1) Edit AUTOEXEC.BAT in MS-DOS:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Programs' and select 'MS-DOS Prompt'. (The 'MS-DOS Prompt' window appears.)

c) Type the following commands at the DOS prompt and press ENTER after each command:
CD ..
COPY <drive>:\AUTOEXEC.BAT <drive>:\AUTOEXEC.OLD
(where <drive> is the letter of the hard drive that contains AUTOEXEC.BAT)
EDIT <drive>:\AUTOEXEC.BAT
(where <drive> is the letter of the hard drive that contains AUTOEXEC.BAT)
d) Use the arrow keys to move to the line(s) to be changed.
e) Add new command lines or edit existing lines to install the correct driver for this video card and display unit.
f) Review all changes, checking for correct spelling and command syntax.
g) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save'.
h) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Exit'.
2) Edit AUTOEXEC.BAT in Windows 95:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Programs', 'Accessories', and 'Notepad'. (A blank document appears.)
c) In 'Notepad', select the 'File' menu and select 'Open'. (The 'Open' dialog box appears.)
d) Type the following in the 'Filename' box.
<drive>:\AUTOEXEC.BAT
(where <drive> is the letter of the hard drive that contains AUTOEXEC.BAT)
e) Click 'Open'. ('Autoexec.bat - Notepad' appears.)
f) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...'. (The 'Save As' dialog box appears.)
g) Type the following in the 'File name' box:
<drive>:\AUTOEXEC.OLD
(where <drive> is the letter of the hard drive containing AUTOEXEC.BAT)
h) Click 'Save'.
i) Use arrow keys to move to the line(s) to be changed.
j) Add new command lines or edit existing command lines to install the correct driver for the video card and display adapter.
k) Review all changes, check for correct spelling and command syntax.
l) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...'. (The 'Save As' dialog box appears.)
m) Type the following in the 'Filename' box:
<drive>:AUTOEXEC.BAT
(where <drive> is the letter of the hard drive containing AUTOEXEC.BAT)
NOTE: The 'Save As' dialog box appears informing that AUTOEXEC.BAT already exists. Click 'Yes' for all changes made to be saved.
n) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Exit'.
o) Restart the computer
3) In Windows, check/change the video driver:
a) Right-click on an unoccupied area of the desktop.
b) Select 'Properties' from the pop-up menu. (The 'Display Properties' dialog box appears.)
c) Click the 'Settings' tab.
d) Check the resolution (e.g., 1024x768) in the 'Desktop area' group.
